Welcome
THE GATE SEEKS THE NORTH EAST’S STUDENT BUSK IDOL
The Gate, Newcastle’s premier leisure complex, is holding a charity competition to find the North East’s student ‘Busk Idol’ and to raise money to help a special care baby unit.
Buskers are often seen on town and city streets, playing anything from spoons to clarinets and penny whistles to electric guitars.
The Gate has decided to find the best of the bunch, with the busker raising the most cash for charity being named “The Gate’s Student Busk Idol 2007” and has linked up with Newcastle Student Radio to help with the search for top student talent.
Each of the chosen four will then be asked to play at The Gate on a Sunday in March. All money thrown into the buskers’ hats or buckets will be kept by the students and the busker that collects most money will win the coveted title of “The Gate’s Student Busk Idol 2007”.
The Gate will also match the amount raised by all four buskers and donate it to the Tiny Lives Fund, a registered charity which raises funds for the special care babies’ unit at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary.
To enter is simple, just send us your recordings and keep your fingers crossed....good luck!!!!!
